Just received my university issues mac and am trying to install amber
(10.8.1, macports 2.1.2, Xcode 4.4.1). Apparently mountain lion doesn't
have x11,

http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5293

therefore I had to install it using

http://xquartz.macosforge.org/landing/

Then I got the error saying that clang is not installed:

ranlib libsqm.a
mv libsqm.a /Users/jonathangough/amber12/lib
gfortran -DBINTRAJ -c -O0 -ffree-form -I../../AmberTools/src/pbsa
-I../../AmberTools/src/sqm -I../../AmberTools/src/rism -I../../include
 -I/Users/jonathangough/amber12/include
-I/Users/jonathangough/amber12/include -o file_io_dat.o file_io_dat.F90
/opt/local/bin/as: assembler (/opt/local/bin/clang) not installed
make[2]: *** [file_io_dat.o] Error 1
make[1]: *** [serial] Error 2
make: *** [install] Error 2

however - clang is present at /usr/bin/clang
and is in my path.

Jonathans-MacBook-Air:amber12 jonathangough$ whereis clang
/usr/bin/clang
Jonathans-MacBook-Air:amber12 jonathangough$ clang
clang: error: no input files
Jonathans-MacBook-Air:amber12 jonathangough$

/opt/local bin has:

and Jonathans-MacBook-Air:bin jonathangough$ pwd
/opt/local/bin
Jonathans-MacBook-Air:bin jonathangough$ ls clang*
clang++-mp-2.9 clang-mp-2.9

It's not a must have install on the laptop, but it would be nice.

I didn't find this in either of the mail lists, so ....

any thoughts, insight?

Best,
Jonathan
