I think we need to know more about the "..." above. And about the
actual errors. Does ew_setup.f fail to compile? Which compiler? It's
not clear how/why trying to compile ew_setup.f should involve some c++
header file. And (below) you seem to have library files from gcc-4.3,
yet the above seems to refer to files from 4.1.2.

You seem to think this variable is important, but why? It seems
possible that some mixup between g95 and gfortran/gcc-4.3 and/or
gcc-4.1.2 is taking place, but I'm just guessing.
Bottom line is that we need to know what the real error is, and exactly
what path you used to get there.
