Did you try that command interactively:
gcc -DUSE_AMBER_C9XCOMPLEX -o testp testp.c

This will indicate whether gcc is installed which is my guess
at the most likely problem.

Use goooggle on Mandriva gcc to get package installation help
for gcc on Mandriva.
