OK, part of the mystery is solved. I needed to have
 amber10/bin explicitly in my path to get lamboot to
 see hboot.

Now on to multiple hosts...

OK, may you should give us the full sequence of commands you are
using. Are you using a script to run sander? Also, what does the
command 'which lamboot' returns?
