Here's what happens with the lamboot that's produced in the
amber10 compile (note the host is binar.umassmed.edu, I've tried
localhost, binar and binar.umassmed.edu in the amber10/etc/lam-bhost.def

OK, may you should give us the full sequence of commands you are
using. Are you using a script to run sander? Also, what does the
command 'which lamboot' returns?
