This is not at all easy. You pretty much have to find out how (or by
whom) the "amber module" was constructed, to see what code was used.

One approach: run a (short) sander run, and look at the mdout file. The
version of pmemd is in all likelihood the same as the version of sander.

(Aside to developers: no one apparently ever noticed that the version
number for pmemd was not updated on going from Amber16 to Amber18.)
