Dear AMBER GeForce GPU users,
Recently an issue surfaced running AMBER on certain GeForce boards (GTX Titan and GTX 780). NVIDIA has debugged the problem and we are working on a fix. The official GTX Titan fix won’t be ready for a few weeks (and might take longer for GTX 780). The fix will be a software fix, either via a driver or VBIOS update, new hardware will not be needed.
As most of you know, we encourage the use of GeForce for CUDA software development, but not for production deployment. But since this problem manifests itself within seconds, we realize that can hamper code development and testing.
The fix is unfortunately complex and requires long testing and qualification. Please stay tuned for a message to the AMBER mailing list when we have a fix ready for delivery.
Note, we have not seen this issue in any of the Tesla Kepler boards. Tesla is specifically designed, built, and tested for 24X7 use in production.
