Re: [AMBER] experiences with EVGA GTX TITAN Superclocked - memtestG80 - UNDERclocking in Linux ?

Hi,

as far as I know at least memtestG80 checks also GPU logic

see for example these outs:

-----
Logic (one iteration): 0 errors (4 ms)
        Logic (4 iterations): 0 errors (8 ms)
Logic (shared memory, one iteration): 0 errors (8 ms)
        Logic (shared-memory, 4 iterations): 0 errors (25 ms)
-----

I remember on Fumark I did some tests with it last year
when I had to RMA 2 x GTX 580, I also tried with Heaven.

Here I have obtained lot of errs from memtestG80 and I wanted just
confirm bad GPU quality on more common Win tests.

What I learned was that these tests perhaps may have problem to
detect soft errs. as for example Heaven did not give me any errs
just reported GPU performance (mainly num. of frames per second)
and in Fumark it was similar I just saw there some relatively rare "green
rays"
(in the given picture) after some minutes but it was all, no precise
protocol which could summarize
eventual problems was created (as in case of memtestG80) just usual list
of performance
parameters. So from that times I am a bit skeptic about the precise
diagnostic
possibilities of these Win tools. That time I had even problem to detect
any err with Win memtestG80 version (under Win 7) on that faulty GPUs!
So from that time I believe that just tests which are done on DOS/Linux
level can
you provide deep/reliable/complete diagnosis.

Be also careful and not "burn" your GPU on that Win tests :))
(It's half joke but I remember some contributions where people reported
that some of those tests might be a bit dangerous (perhaps just some of
them,
for some GPUs under some "critical" tests settings ... ) ).
