SLI is irrelevant. Long before I wrote the AMBER code, I worked on the SLI
project at NVIDIA in its formative days. That said, there is some
technology in SLI that could be exploited to improve the performane of
multi-GPU CUDA, but it hasn't been done yet as it's a lot of work.
CPU is mostly irrelevant. Just buy the current best !/$ CPU and spend the
rest of the money on GPUs.
