4.0 in itself will NOT improve parallel performance. That will require rewriting the code to make use of the cuda 4.0 features. There is nothing automatic unfortunately.

The issue is going to be that the individual GPUs inside the GTX590 are so fast compared to the GTX295 cores that the 8x connection between the two GPUs will be totally swamped and you will see no scaling at all. They should be fine for running 2 independent single GPU jobs though.

I guess it will be a case of suck it and see.
