Why used the -i??? This means 'ignore errors' which means that make starts
to compile things, hits a critical error and then just blitheringly ignores
it and carries. Thus the problem is lost way back in the tons of output that
was generated after the first error. Try it again without the -i. Try:
make serial >& serial.log
Then attach the last 100 lines or so of serial.log to your email.
