Hello,

New AMBER user trying to get started. Trying to install AMBER 8 for
IRIX 6.5, x86 Linux (Fedora Core 1), Solaris 8, OSF1 4.0F.

IRIX 6.5 goes fine. Results differ from expected, but not too badly
as far as I can tell.

FC1 compiles fine with Intel's v8 compiler, but running tests freezes
the machine:

cd tip5p; ./Run.tip5p
forrtl: info: Fortran error message number is 174.
forrtl: warning: Could not open message catalog: ifcore_msg.cat.
forrtl: info: Check environment variable NLSPATH and protection of /usr/lib/ifcore_msg.cat.
(Hitting ^C at this point produces:)
forrtl: info: Fortran error message number is 69.
forrtl: warning: Could not open message catalog: ifcore_msg.cat.
forrtl: info: Check environment variable NLSPATH and protection of /usr/lib/ifcore_msg.cat.

The executable that freezes is
        ../../exe/sander -O -i mdin -c eq5.x -o mdout

The sander process can be killed with a hangup, but it interrupts the
entire tests process. I do have the Intel 7.x compiler, but don't have
a RH7.x anywhere anymore.

On Solaris 8, I get the following. (Compiler = Sun Workshop 6 update 2)

cd src/Xmu; make
cc -c -I/usr/openwin/include -DSYSV -o AllCmap.o AllCmap.c
cc -c -I/usr/openwin/include -DSYSV -o Atoms.o Atoms.c
"./Atoms.h", line 112: syntax error before or at: char
"./Atoms.h", line 112: warning: undefined or missing type for: char
"Atoms.c", line 101: syntax error before or at: char
"Atoms.c", line 101: warning: undefined or missing type for: char
"Atoms.c", line 104: undefined symbol: name
cc: acomp failed for Atoms.c

*** Error code 1
make: Fatal error: Command failed for target `install'
Current working directory (AMBER8 inst dir)/src/leap

On OSF1 4.0F, I get the following. (Compiler = DIGITAL Fortran 90 and 77 V5.2)

/lib/cpp -traditional -C -P -I/afs/bi/v/.sys/apps/molbiol/amber/8/src/include m
dread.f > _mdread.f
f90 -c -tune host -arch host -free -o mdread.o _mdread.f
f90: Error: _mdread.f, line 1518: This NAMELIST object is invalid. [TRESCNT]
namelist /cnstph/ stateinf, resstate, protcnt, chrgdat, statene, trescnt, resname

All suggestions are welcome.
