Tough question to answer.
Amber14 supports newer NVIDIA cards, and has significant speedups. I think(?)
that the current SPFP default precision model was introduced in this time
period, so that it might be that SPFP was not available as an option in
Amber12 (you can easily check this if you have Amber12.)
