You are supposed to type "make test": the Makefile figures out what sort
of compilation you did last.
I see that the manual is mistaken here...we'll get that fixed for the next
release. Sorry for the confusion.
FWIW: the "Installation and testing" section at http://ambermd.org/gpus/
has the correct syntax. This web page is generally the best place to visit
for help with GPUs, since it gets updated more often than the printed manual.
