Hello Robert

You go to Jason Swails following blog on how to install AMBER on Ubuntu,

You will have a clean and error free installation

http://jswails.wikidot.com/installing-amber12-and-ambertools-13

Of course it is for AMBER12 but you should get through the installation
easily

Dear all,

I am just trying to install Amber14/AmberTools15 on a new computer running
on Ubuntu 14.04LTS. I installed all the compilers/libraries recommended in
the manual. After compiling the serial version I got the following error
message:

/usr/bin/ld: /home/rojw/amber14/lib/libnetcdff.a(fort-attio.o): relocation
R_X86_64_PC32 against undefined symbol `strlen..GLIBC_2.2.5' can not be
used when making a shared object; recompile with -fPIC
/usr/bin/ld: final link failed: Bad value
collect2: error: ld returned 1 exit status
make[2]: *** [/home/rojw/amber14/lib/libsander.so] Error 1
make[2]: Leaving directory `/home/rojw/amber14/AmberTools/src/sander'
make[1]: *** [serial] Error 2
make[1]: Leaving directory `/home/rojw/amber14/AmberTools/src'
make: *** [install] Error 2

Any suggestions what is going wrong?

Best wishes,
Robert
