I don’t think Amber GPU performance has been optimized for the Maxwell cards (e.g., the GTX 980) yet. So I think the performance is about the same as you’d see in the Kepler line (like the GTX 780 or the K40). Future versions of Amber should run faster on the GTX 980.

When you are running calculations on the GPU, the speed of the CPU does not matter.
