If it's not on a cluster you don't maintain, you can always request that
it be installed. In any case, Amber 12 also comes with cpptraj (although
it is not as recent of a version). It's worth trying that version of
cpptraj as well, but any bug reports should contain what version of the
software you're using (that is, how many updates have been applied).
