I'm following Jason's instructions for the installation of Amber 12

I've managed to install gcc47 from MacPorts but I've been unable to install mpich2.
sudo port install mpich2 +gcc47 fails to install mpich2. I read the log file which in summary states
onfigure ---> Configuring mpich2
:debug:configure Using compiler 'Mac OS X clang'
:debug:configure Executing proc-pre-org.macports.configure-configure-0
:error:configure mpich2 has been made obsolete by the port mpich. Please install mpich instead.
:error:configure org.macports.configure for port mpich2 returned: obsolete port
The question is whether I need to install mpich first and then try to install mpich2
