Right. I had encountered this exact problem, and the only solution I've found (yet) is to use PGI 12.4 or earlier.
I've been meaning to look into it further, but it may be a PGI compiler problem. I know the most recent PGI version (as of a few weeks ago) was 12.9; it's possible the problem has been fixed by now.
