This is a problem with the compiler, and (apparently) opensuse's version,
since gcc 4.1.2 on other platforms seems fine.

You could try the above commands (cpp and gfortran) changing "-O3" to "-O0".
If that doesn't help, you may have to install a more recent version of
gcc/gfortran.
