OK: this can get out of hand quickly. Just to set the bar for you yunguns
to beat:
I first programmed on an IBM 1401 (but it was in the summer, no snow....)
with no hardware multiply: to multiply two numbers, you had to write and call
your own subroutine. Took about 10 minutes to *assemble* a 50-line program.
[I *did* also enter machine code on the toggle switches of a PDP11, but the
sequences were never very long, so I don't think that really counts.]
