I guess I give up....You could do a final check that "nm" still fails to
recognize symbols inside the fftw libraries in $AMBERHOME/lib. I guess you
could try to not use gcc42 to see if that helps.
The fftw package is a standard code (i.e. not written by Amber developers).
Apparently, your compiler appears to succeed in compiling it, but creates
bogus archive files. You could try to figure out what is actually in
$AMBERHOME/lib/libdrfftw.a. But it could be you have to use one of the
recommended compilers, as discussed on the Amber web site.
