Amber Users,
I successfully installed and tested serial Amber 10 on my Windows
machine (running Vista Home Premium and Cygwin). But, then I ran into a
problem when I tried to do the parallel install. I've attached both the
config_amber.h and configure_lam files from the command:
./configure_amber -lamsource -cygwin g95. When I tried to configure
lam, however, I got one major warning regarding lack of SYSV support
plus several other smaller (apparent) errors (See the attached
conflam.log). I searched for anything resembling ipc-deamon2, but found
nothing like it on the computer. At the very end of the conflam.log it
states that 'LAM configure succeeded' but also notes that several
programs could not be run since permission was denied. Anyway, with a
positive outlook, I went ahead and tried to make parallel - which failed
(See mkparal.log attached).
Because of my lack of any experience running configure and make files,
I'm not sure whether there's something equivalent to 'make clean' that
'unconfigures' the lam package. Nonetheless, after disabling the
Windows User Account Control so that all programs would run, I simply
went back and began with make clean followed by ./configure_amber
-lamsource -cygwin g95 and tried once again to use the new configure_lam
file. This I followed with trying to make parallel once again with the
same failed result.
If anyone has any suggestions as to what I need to do to complete a
successful parallel installation, I'd really appreciate your assistance.
Thanks,
Bob Hopkins
