Don't forget to apply the bugfixes!

This is odd: the Makelist file is clearly there in the distribution:
loyd2% tar tfz amber8.tgz | grep Makelist
amber8/src/lib/Makelist
Check your amber8/src/lib directory: is there a Makelist file there, and is it
executable?
It is always a good idea to search the mailing list archives for similar
reports. Pasting "Makelist: not found" into the box on the amber web site
pulls up:
http://amber.ch.ic.ac.uk/archive/200711/0349.html
and similar. While there is no real resolution there, the problem might be
that there is no /bin/csh interpreter -- is that possible for you? (Hard to
believe that Ubuntu 7.10 doesn't have csh....)
These ideas should get you started.....good luck....dac
