In response to your suggestion, I tried the following permutations:

"H:/Documents\ and\ Settings/Lili/My\ Documents/amber9/" (with spaces,
with final backslash)
"H:/Documents\ and\ Settings/Lili/My\ Documents/amber9" (with spaces,
without final backslash)
"H:/Documents\and\Settings/Lili/My\Documents/amber9/" (without spaces,
with final backslash)
"H:/Documents\and\Settings/Lili/My\Documents/amber9" (without spaces,
without final backslash)

...and none of them worked :(. Maybe I'm overlooking something really
obvious...
