AMBER: Including Relevant Subject Lines

Hi All,

As an update to what Gustavo has been saying about new threads can I also
request that people use relevant subject lines when sending messages to the
amber list.

For example subject lines such as: "AMBER" or "Request" do not make it clear
what the message is concerning.

Detailed subject lines will make the mailing list archive
(http://amber.ch.ic.ac.uk/archive/) more effective since people will be able
to decipher what a thread is about without having to open up the complete
message.

As an extension to this if you reply to a message to provide an answer or
follow-up information please don't change the subject line (Re: and fwd:
precursors are fine). In this way the archiving software will be able to
identify message threads and keep them together so that you can browse
through a single thread. The exception to this would be if the subject of
the thread substantially changes from what the subject line implies. In this
case please use your judgement on whether tot change the subject line (and
thus begin a new thread) or not.

All the best
Ross
