...aargh. This was fixed in CVS version 8.12, but then TEC blew it away
with later changes in revision 8.13.
Amber developers named "Tom" really *have* to more carefully keep their
CVS trees up to date.
We'll post a bug-fix: basically, just move line 4036 of ptraj.c down about 6
lines (so that it is after the declarations.) This is a C syntax rule, but
many compilers don't enforce it.
