An alternative is just to go to http://www.g95.org and download a binary for
your machine. This gives an extremely simple installation, and one that does
not depend on gcc-4.0.1. For users who don't have a need to build the
compiler from source, this may be the best approach, as it doesn't require
installing an entirely new gcc.

It's great that gfortran is finally getting robust enough to handle sander.
I'd appreciate it if some developer would volunteer to make sure that it
is as good as possible with Amber 9 (and that the configure script for that
is correct.)
