Did you check the permissions on these files? Since you can compile on
RedHat, you could probably also move those files to the Mandrake machine.
It does sound like an error in your X setup.

This is a completely different problem. You could check the possible
problems listed above, but my guess is that the final "make install.leap"
command either did not get run, or exited prematurely. Try recompiling
on RedHat and look carefully at the log.
