The update function in ./configure seems to be working. When invoked, it
did identify and download all 10 updates.
The URL for the Amber16 download also now works once I clear my browser
history.

I think(?) things should be working now--please give it a try.
[Caveat: we have one machine that can't connect to ambermd.org at all; but
everyother machine I've tried seems to work.]
