Olena,
some time ago, I've created a Python script that renumbers the PDB
residue IDs starting from a certain value (e.g. 26 in your case) and
incrementing by 1. This means that gaps in the original numbering scheme
are closed in the renumbered version. If this is of any help to you,
I've attached the script. You would have to set the `OFFSET` variable in
the source manually (to e.g. 26).
