Thanks very much for your suggestions. Finally I build amber11 and
ambertools-1.5 successfully on my ubuntu system after following your
instructions of extracting a fresh copy of amber11 and ambertools-1.5 and
adding the X11 library. However, I can't still build the parallel version
following what you told me, but it worked after I added a -noX11 option
when doing the configure.
