I don't think this will work. As I understand it, gcc's before version 4
probably may not understand the way to link in with gfortran. Since you are
using RedHat, why not run gcc 4.1.2 (to match your gfortran)?
Better yet, install the gcc44 package that RedHat now has, and upgrade both
compilers to version 4.4.
