Hi Alan and Ross,

Thanks for the help. It turned out to be a problem with TCP in OpenMPI.
It was using low port numbers. Add '-mca btl_tcp_port_min_v4 39600 -mca
btl_tcp_port_range_v4 32' (as recommended on the OpenMPI list) to the
mpirun command line solved the problem.
