Dear Patrick,
If you can get a Fortran 95 compiler running on the machine then yes Amber
(I assume 9.0) should work. In all likelyhood g95 should work (see
http://www.g95.org/) then try a simple configuration for g95 linux.
./configure -static g95
make
And see if it works.
