I have no idea what you are doing wrong. Did you try moving the file to a
shorter directory like I suggested earlier? Do you have read permission for
the file? Did it download successfully?
I have never had any problems with any version of VMD when it comes to
reading prmtop files except for the path length problem. So I really can't
think of anything else to suggest. Try contacting the VMD authors.
