AMBER: general question about hydrogen bond energy vs electrostatic energy

Hi, it occured to me recently that since Amber does not have a
specific energy term for hydrogen bond any more, I wonder if amber
simply treats hydrogen bond interaction as conventional
electrostatics. It is well know that hydrogen bond by nature is not
pure electrostatics and has some covalent bond characteristics
reflected by bonding directionality.

Thanks.

Eric
