Note that the script did _not_ compile new2oldparm.f. Is is possible that
you had a left-over new2oldparm.o from before you upgraded? Try a "make
clean" before the compile to see if that helps.

(This is not all that likely to be the problem, but is so simple that it is
at least worth a try...)
