AMBER: solvent cap and eedmeth

Dear amber users,

is it correct that a solvent cap should be used together with
"eedmeth=5", i.e. with distance dependent dielectric?

From the streptavidin/biotin tutorial as well as from scanning the
archive of the mailing list I have this impression.

What exactly means the combinatin of e.g. "cut=12" with "eedmeth=5"?

Your help is very much appreciated,

Oliver
