.. just in time to wish you all a Happy New Year(!), I've added two
items to
http://amber.ch.ic.ac.uk
(1) About two hundred responses culled from over 4000 entires in the
archives of the Amber reflector. Follow the "FAQ" link at the web site.
This is a work in progress: I still need to organize the list into categories,
and fix up the subject lines for many of the entries. But even now, it
provides a source of answers that is more content-rich than the complete mail
archives themselves. As new "good" answers show up on the reflector, I will
add them to this area. And the "complete" archive continues to also be a good
source of information.
Once Google indexes these pages, you should be able to find them with
a Google search: add the phrase "site:amber.ch.ic.ac.uk" to the keywords
you are looking for.
Note that the FAQ's themselves were cleaned up some recently (thanks to Mike
Crowley and Scott Brozell). These also, however, still need work....
(2) I've also put a few new entries in the benchmarks page, in particular,
results for Itanium 2, and for a Linux cluster using 2.4 GHz PIV with gigabit
interconnect. These may be more like machines you would consider buying now.
..best wishes for the New Year....dac
