Amber7/CYGWIN compiling

Hi,

I've run across an oddity in CYGWIN/g77 that keeps the standard
amber7 makefiles from running. Namely when I compile:

> g77 program.f -o program

I get an executable "program.exe", oddly enough if I do

> g77 program.f -o prog.ram

I get an executable "prog.ram"...no ".exe" suffix. I've searched
the g77/gcc man pages in CYGWIN but can't find a flag to suppress
the ".exe" suffix for a one word executable.

Does anyone have a workaround that doesn't involve editing the Amber7
makefiles? (note: this is NOT the behavior for RH Linux g77).

thanks,
jim
